Infertile & shopping for Brahmin sperms

Mansi Choksi and Sharmila Ganesan-Ram TNN

Dr Aniruddh Malpani,an infertility expert in Mumbai, often invokes playwright George Bernard Shaws conversation with French actress Sarah Bernhardt when inundated with elitist requests from couples seeking sperm donors.Just think Monsieur a child with my looks and your brains! Bernhardt is said to have told Shaw.To which he had famously quipped,But Madam, what if he is born with my looks and your brains
In India, its well known that couples shopping for sperm demand both looks and brains. What isnt so well known, despite being fairly commonplace,is a more outrageous request: caste-based sperm.Three years ago,Dr Saurav Kumar,a Patna gynaecologist, created a furore when he told a newspaper that childless couples insisted on knowing the caste of the sperm donors. But while one may be tempted to assume that caste biases are entrenched only in the Hindi heartland states, the citys infertility experts insist otherwise.
Dilip Patil, founding president of Trivector,an infertility solutions firm, says there is a definite preference for Brahim donors in Mumbai.Even among Muslims, couples want to know whether the donor is Sunni or Shiite, he says. However, going by Indian Council of Medical Research guidelines,we reveal only the religion of the donor, not the caste.

சச்சினுக்கு பாரத ரத்னா தரக்கூடாது: கட்ஜு

First Published : 13 May 2012 02:02:24 AM IST

Now,a scam in Mayas jumbo memorials as well

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Lucknow: After NRHM,Noida land, toilet and canal scams during the previous Mayawati government, financial irregularities have now been found in making and installation of elephant statues at Dalit memorials.
Built at a cost of over Rs 4,000 crore, the Dalit memorials have over 200 statues of elephant 156 in Lucknow and 52 in Noida.Mayawati had projected them as symbol of Dalit pride.
But on Monday, the Lucknow police found documents during raids at office and godown of the UP State Rajkiya Nirman Nigam (UPRNNM),which showed anomalies in tendering, payments to the sculptors and over evaluation of about 200 statues of elephant.
A police officer told TOI that the scam involving the supply, cutting and polishing of stone and statues could be worth Rs 300 crore.
The matter came to light on Saturday when Agrabased Madal Lal lodged an FIR against a contractor,Aditya Agarwal, from Lucknow who had ordered for the carving of the statues.Lal claimed that Agarwal gave him the contract of supplying stones and installing them after carving an elephant.
Lal said he was told that the official rate of one elephant statue is Rs 48 lakh but was paid only Rs 7.5 lakh for 16 statues. The police on Sunday raided Agarwals godown and found a statue of the elephant. They recovered Rs 63 lakh in cash from Agarwals office.
As per the papers seized so far,we have reached the conclusion that while the cost of each elephant statue was Rs 5.62 lakh,Agarwal used to receive an additional Rs 47 lakh for polishing and transportation of a statue. There was clearly a scam in which the officers of UPRNNL were involved, the police said.

In India, one doc for every 2,000 people

27% Docs,63% Nurses Exist Only On Paper,Says Ministry

Kounteya Sinha TNN

New Delhi:Around 27% of Indias registered doctors and almost 63% nurses arent active anymore. The health ministrys presentation to the Consultative Committee, which included several MPs,admitted to some worrying trends in human resources in health.
According to joint secretary in the ministry Dr Vishwas Mehtas presentation, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has 7.5 lakh doctors registered under it.However, the health ministrys scrutiny has found that two lakh of the registered doctors arent working anymore.Of the 10.7 lakh nurses registered, six lakh dont exist.
At present, there is only one doctor for every 2,000 population. The target is to have one doctor for every 1,000 population. While the international nurse to doctor ratio is 3:1,Indias count stands at 1.5:1.Besides,the number of female allopathic doctors (medical graduates with a bachelors or postgraduate specialist diploma or degree registered with MCI) is abysmally low.
Only 17% of all allopathic doctors and 6% of allopathic doctors in rural areas are women. There is less than one female allopathic doctor per 10,000 population in rural areas (0.5),whereas it is 6.5 in urban areas.Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad informed the committee that the ministry is giving a special push to nursing education.
During the last two years, the ministry has sanctioned 132 auxillary nurse midwives and 137 general nursing midwifery schools all over the country. These 269 schools will produce an additional 20,000 nurses every year.Six nursing colleges are also being established at the new AIIMS being set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Surakhsha Yojana and these will be functional by next year, Azad said.
A skewed distribution of medical colleges is another big problem. The ministrys presentation said 45% of medical colleges are located in south India, while North India is home to 17% of the medical colleges.

DGCI recruitment criteria questioned

The parliamentary standing committee on health has raised serious questions on the recruitment criteria for Indias top drug job - Drug Controller General of India (DGCI).All you need for the job is a simple graduation in pharmacy or a graduate degree in medicine with post-graduation in clinical pharmacology or microbiology (MD) along with five years experience.TNN

In China, grassroots churning in the fight against corruption

Subodh Varma TNN

Beijing: Last year,a small incident involving a 62-year-old grandmother and the local party secretary of a village in Chinas Shandong province became a national sensation, talked about in television and papers, and generating countless posts on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
Zhang Xiufang used to maintain a diary of news reports on cases of corrupt government officials. Then she decided to inscribe the names of these officials on a metre-long slab of stone and install it in the village square. For good measure she made another similar plaque and put it up on the main street.
The day these stark reminders went public a crowd gathered and fireworks were set off.The village party secretary,Chen Weisheng led a group of villagers and beat up Zhang and her husband. The police arrived soon and Chen was arrested.Later he was sent to cool his heels for 15 days in the local prison, and was fined 1000 yuan.Zhang, meanwhile, had hit national headlines. She was interviewed on TV,and her photos appeared across the countrys newspapers.
This incident is but the tip of an iceberg. While international media obsesses over the Bo Xilai cause celebre because of its political implications Bo,after all,was a member of the all powerful politbureau of the ruling Communist Party but a tour of smaller towns and villages shows the widespread grassroots churning that is going on in the fight against corruption.
Since the reforms and opening up was launched in 1978,but more decisively in this past decade, corruption has become rampant at all levels.Even the Chinese government admits this.In a White Paper issued by the state council (equivalent to the Cabinet in India) in 2010,this was described as arising due to system transition, that is,from a planned, state controlled economy to a socialist market economy.
Fang Cao,an academic, says that many senior officials, both in the party and in the administration have used their power to illegally amass wealth. In particular,he identifies top officials of public corporations, like Dong Yuejin, former assistant to the general manager of China International Telecommunication Corp, who was found to have embezzled $85 million, apart from taking millions more in bribes.
Their children study abroad, money regularly goes abroad and their lifestyle is super-rich.It is only through illegal means that such wealth can be acquired, he asserts.
Even as the national government took up the fight against corrupt public officials and CPC members through a slew of measures, the common people appear to have responded with gusto and innovative daring.
Thousands of cases of bribery or misuse of official power are reported on Weibo,Ren-Ren (the Chinese equivalent of Facebook),and dozens of chat forums on the Web.In Luoyang city,a prominent anti-corruption net-activist Zhang Xiaoli, who uses the online pseudonym Lao Niu,was elected to the municipal wing of the Chinese Peoples Political Consultative Conference,an advisory body.
After the partys watchdog Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) set up an online platform to receive tip-offs,they were flooded with 1.43 million petitions leading to recovery of $1.3 billion losses. The supreme peoples court launched a web platform to solicit reports of illegal activities by judges. In six months, complaints were recorded against 294 judges, resulting in 116 prosecutions.Within five months of its launch in early 2010,Beijing police microblog attracted more than 300,000 followers.Li Chengyan,a professor at the School of Government of Peking University told Beijing Review that the role of Internet was still limited because whistle-blowers often faced retaliation and victimization.
However,China still has some of the worlds toughest laws against corruption, including the death penalty.A 2010 law asking all government employees to declare their assets,as well as details of spouse and children living abroad and transfers to them remains partially implemented.Over 1.67 million officials had declared financial details of their families till last year, out of an estimated 6 million officials.
According to Gan Yisheng,a senior official with the CCDI,146,517 officials have been punished across China in 2010,up 6% from 2009.As Fang says, market socialism brought high growth but it has also unleashed greed big time.

Booze spurs most marital fights

Caused 675 Cases Of Domestic Violence In 5 Months,Police Data Shows

Sindhu Kannan TNN

Chennai: The genie is out of the bottle and it is wrecking marriages in the city.Alcoholic husbands, crime statistics for Chennai show, have been the primary cause of marital discord.
The statistics are disturbing. In the past five months,675 drunken husbands triggered incidents of domestic violence.Dowry, the other major cause of domestic violence, was a distant second with 242 cases being attributed to demands for money in the same period.Disputes over infidelity sparked 135 cases of violence in households, and incompatibility,20.
Of the 675 cases of liquor-induced violence, the police brokered peace in 549 cases. The police registered an FIR in only one case.
Most women who complain about alcoholic husbands compromise with their spouses after brief counselling sessions, said a senior police officer.
We have five counsellors who offer to advise the complainants, the officer said.Sometimes rows are resolved after just one session of counselling, while others could take as many as three sessions. The police rarely register cases,he said.
Police officials point out that most of the complaints come from lower-middle class families, mainly from localities in north Chennai like Pulianthope,Vyasarpadi and Korrukupet. The men who are accused in such complaints are usually daily wage workers who spend most of their money on liquor. However, the police also receive complaints from middle class and affluent families as well.
It is easy to settle issues with lower-middle class families, the officer said.Dealing with couples in middle class families is another matter because the aggrieved person usually demands that a case be registered.
Counsellors draw a link between how frequently husbands get drunk and the likelihood of verbal abuse and physical violence toward their spouses.Regular consumption of alcohol leads to increased aggression and marital violence.Bouts of violence progressively get more severe, said Manohari,a counseller.Alcoholic husbands sometimes beat up their wives so savagely that it leaves them with serious injuries, she said.
Even small issues are blown out of proportion by husbands under the influence of alcohol, she said, because they lose their ability to think rationally.Individuals become more impulsive and automatically lose their ability to restrain their aggression, she said.
Alcohol abuse also causes sexual problems such as erectile dysfunction.Sexual dissatisfaction among couples usually ends in divorce,Manohari said.

Great gambler turns saviour for the mentally challenged

Moved By Rape Victims Plight,Satiya Opens Ashram

Vijaysinh Parmar TNN

Palitana (Bhavnagar): To atone for sins he once committed as a gambling-den operator,Bhikhabhai Satiya began constructing a shrine. But stunned by the sins of society,he decided to build a temple to humanity.
In 2002,I read about a woman with mental problems who had been raped by police in Sinhor, said Satiya, who now runs an ashram near Palitana for people with mental ailments. At that stage,he had begun work on the temple. But the news hit me and I stopped the construction and started to build the ashram.
Satiya said that till date 60 of the 180 inmates of the ashram had been successfully rehabilitated with their families. One of them is 22-year-old Sabnam,a Delhi resident. She belonged to a village near Mumbai and had married her Delhi-based lover. Two years ago,she was found naked and abandoned near Talaja town. Her left hand had been chopped off.Someone informed Satiya about her.He brought her to his ashram and sought medical help.
We had no idea what happened to her but she was traumatized, Satiya said.We cared for her for a few weeks and she started responding. Eventually, when Sabnam told Satiya her address,he called her family. Her family members were overjoyed to learn she was alive, Satiya said. Now she is doing well with her husband in Delhi. She calls me regularly and visits the ashram too.
Sabnams transformation is as dramatic as Satiyas spiritual makeover. My father,Bhimjibhai, operated a lassi shop, Satiya said.
But I started a gambling club.Till his last breath,my father urged me to do some good for humanity. After his fathers death,Satiya began work on the temple.I wanted it to be a memorial to my father. But the Sinhor incident turned my life around, he said.
Satiya initially used to give Rs 100 to rickshawallas who brought any abandoned person to his ashram.Satiya offers refuge to only those who are orphaned. His day begins at 5 am.Every inmate of the ashram is given a bath and his or her clothes are washed.
Satiya said that compassion was one reason why 60 of 180 inmates had resumed normal life with their families.

Traffic woes cost country 60k cr/yr: Study

Dipak Kumar Dash TNN

New Delhi: The country loses Rs 60,000 crore a year due to congestion (including fuel wastage),slow speed of freight vehicles and waiting time at toll plazas and checking points,a study on operational efficiencies of freight transportation by roads has claimed.
It said vehicles crawl at an average speed of less than 20 kmph on some key corridors such as Mumbai-Chennai,Delhi-Chennai and Delhi-Guwahati while its only 21.35 kmph on Delhi-Mumbai stretch.
The Transport Corporation of India and IIM (Calcutta) study said while Indias freight volume was increasing at a compounded annual growth rate of 9.08% and vehicles were growing at 10.76%,the road length was increasing at only 4.01%.This has resulted paucity of road space to accommodate vehicles and to increase the speed.
The report blamed waiting time at toll plazas as one of the main reasons for long travel time of freight vehicles on highways it surveyed. The Delhi-Mumbai route has 18 stops and the average stoppage delay is three hours, which is 3% of the total travel time.Toll stoppages account for almost 7% of the stoppage delay on an average. The findings are no different on the Delhi-Bangalore stretch.
The study covered 17 major routes and found that national average of fuel mileage is only 3.96 km per litre. While its maximum on Chennai-Kolkata corridor, its the least at 3.44 km on the Delhi-Nagpur stretch.
In an interesting observation, the report said that while average stoppage delay had reduced in 2011-12 compared to 2008-09,average speed had also slowed down.Truckers said this could be due to ongoing expansion of highways.During widening of NHs,the available road space gets reduced and vehicles take several diversions.
S P Singh,a senior fellow with Indian Foundation of Transport Research and Training, said truckers and logistic firms should not single out delays at toll plazas and road condition as the reasons for slow truck movement. You have overloaded trucks and fatigued drivers since transporters often deploy only one driver per truck against the norm of two drivers on a long trip. All these result in reduced average speed. So,transporters and logistic companies cannot pass their own failures on to the road network and toll plazas, he said.

Britain refuses to review new student visa curbs

London: The British government on Wednesday rejected an appeal by nearly 70 top university heads to review changes to the student visa regime that is likely to put off students from India and other non-EU countries from coming to the UK.
In a letter to PM David Cameron, university heads noted the economic and other contributions made by international students, and said Britain stood to lose out on the highly competitive international student market unless the recent changes were reviewed.
The curbs on student visas are intended to reduce the number of international students and prevent abuse, but critics say students should not be counted as immigrants since their stay is temporary.
Immigration minister Damian Green rejected the contention saying,Public confidence in statistics will not be enhanced by revising the way the net migration numbers are presented by removing students.Students coming to the UK for over a year are not visitors their numbers affect communities, public services and infrastructure.PTI

AIDS: 21st Century`s biggest fraud, 300 bn. dollar industry

Listen to this article. Powered by Odiogo.com

16.05.2012
AIDS: 21st Century`s biggest fraud

Konstantin Belov (Moscow News) interviews Chamakhe Maurieni.

Chamakhe Maurieni, of the Gafi Research Institute, Tunis, has some very striking revelations about HIV/AIDS, something he calls a "fraud" which feeds "a 300 billion dollar industry" which rests on flimsy evidence that HIV caused AIDS, which, he claims, is not a disease but rather a "state".

Konstantin Belov (Moscow News) interviewed Chamakhe Maurieni.

Moscow News (MN): Chamakhe, you work for the secretive Gafi Research Institute, Tunis and your latest investigation has been on AIDS. Congratulations on having been appointed the lead writer for the Institute. What do you have to reveal to us?

Chamakhe Maurieni (CM): It is simply a hoax, the Gafi research team termed it the 21st century's greatest fraud. The HIV/AIDS industry is a 300 billion-dollar industry of manipulative fraud, lies, deceptions, more lies and many more lies. From a ploy by a few people running into hundreds, it has risen over two decades and has been invested-in by private individuals, co-operations and various governments across the world. It's simply been used over and over to balance government corrupt books.

What kind of weapons shoot blanks? Whoever proved HIV causedAIDS? The answer is a big gaping Nobody. Ask yourself a question majority of the world population, including the so-called HIV patients, have never asked themselves or put to world governments, rganisations, NGOs who go about preaching HIV kills, safe sex and a host of other sickening slogans. Where are the scientific references establishing HIV as the cause of AIDS? Presently, there are none.

MN: What do you mean? What about all the research carried out by the world's top professors?

CM: If you think a virus is the cause of AIDS, do a control without it; this has surprisingly never been done. The current epidemiology of AIDS is simply a pile of anecdotal stories, selected to fit the AIDS hypothesis. The HIV/AIDS story is a multi-billion/dollar/pound fraud, racket which is based on two fallacies: AIDS is a single disease/AIDS is a disease and secondly that AIDS is caused by the HI virus or the HIV VIRUS as some choose to call it – perhaps they think V in HIV stands for volcano.

Taking a look at the fallacies, fabrications; it need be stated: AIDS is not a single disease but rather a state where the immune defence system in a human is, simply put, DEAD, WEAK, INEFFECTIVE...

Thus, the said human is vulnerable to every form of disease attack, it can be Malaria, measles, papilloma and so much more... The second fabrication claims AIDS is caused by HI, which is false. HIV is a retrovirus, a retrovirus is an RNA virus duplicated in a host cell using the reverse transcriptase enzyme to produce DNA from its RNA genome. Retroviruses are unlike flu viruses, they don't cause diseases.

HIV ... is one thousandth the size of a regular cell. HIV is simply a harmless piece of dead tissue, not unlike the numerous other retroviruses which exist in the human body. Thus, it is not even probable, let alone scientifically proven, that HIV causes AIDS. If there is any such real evidence, there should be scientific documents which demonstrate the fact, ... right now, presently, at the moment, there are no such documents. All we have at the moment are hear-says, fictitious stories, lies and mere-propaganda by the mainstream media.

A major problem with the AIDS definition is that it ignored the man-made environmental causes of immune suppression. Exposure to toxin, alcholism, heavy drug use or heavy antibiotic use; all of these can cause an onset of the list of diseases which provide the same symptoms/identical symptoms indicative of AIDS. The HIV/AIDS propagandists all intentionally forget to inform the world that HIV positive response in humans can be triggered by vaccination, malnutrition, measles, influenza, papilloma virus, war, leprosy, hepatitis, syphilis and over forty different other conditions.

MN: Let us follow the course of AIDS through from the beginning.

CM: Let's make a brief history of how all of these HIV/AIDS lie came to be. It all emerged from the USA and that should be common knowledge I presume. The truth is simple but has been kept for too long. Previously to the announcement by Robert Gallo, head of a retrovirus lab at the National cancer institute, at a 1984 press conference, that HIV causes AIDS, it all began with Federal centres for disease control and prevention, overstating their relevance and were thus under threat of being disbanded.

The centre needed a serious epidemic to justify its continued existence, it decided to name AIDS as a single contagious disease and thus created an atmosphere of public fear, and panic, which brought it increased funding and power. Simply put, public fear of a new dreaded AIDS was used as a catalyst to achieve increased power and funding.

After the announcement by Robert Galo, head of a retrovirus lab at the national cancer institute in 1984, pharmaceutical companies by a decade later, began exploiting the situation by bringing back highly toxic, failed cancer drugs-AZT, it is also called Zidovudine or Retrovir combination Therapies.

These drugs have been proven and were proven once more by various scientists, in the past, and also proven by the Gafi research institute, to destroy the immune system and cause the same symptoms attributed to HIV.

This has been known and stated by researchers such as Peter Duesburg, professor of Biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of California at Berkeley, and by Nobel prize winning scientist Walter Gilbert. These two researchers also questioned the reality of the 'HIV causes AIDS' story, but instead of being urged-on in their attempt to help mankind, they were ridiculed and their funding was stopped by the powers that be.

MN: So much for the individuals. Now for the pharma industry…

CM: We are beginning to get somewhere. Let's take a brief look at the industry which claimed to have found AIDS - This key research had been investigated for scientific fraud by powerful American scientific institutions and by the American congress between 1990-1994, when an enquiry was conducted into this research, which claimed to have discovered AIDS.

The enquiry reported lots of major errors in the research, with some errors so serious that it became impossible to repeat the key HIV experiment and verify the findings. Conducting the research again would simply have exposed the entire AIDS lie. In proving the fraud present within the HIV/AIDS storyline, researchers at the Gafi institute examined 950 AIDS positive patients and another 950 patients who were AIDS negative.

Testing these two distinct groups of patients using Electron Microscopy test on the two groups revealed retroviruses –like particles in 95 percent enlarged lymph nodes from the AIDS patients. Using elctron Microscopy test on the other group of 950 patients who were not infected with AIDS, the research team discovered the same identical particles in 95 percent of enlarged lymph nodes from this group of patients, who are AIDS negative, and were not at risk of developing AIDS.

Thus, if the particles seen in the AIDS patients, are as AIDS experts assure – HIV, then what were the particles found in patients who were not AIDS positive and were not even at risk of developing AIDS? The research team sensed a higher push behind this entire HIV/AIDS hoax. The research team discovered a 300 billion-dollar AIDS industry. I choose to call it the AIDS racket or the money-spinning machine.

MN: And who is behind this?

CM: This racket includes Governments, pharmaceutical companies such as Glaxo/Borough Wellcome – MANUFACTURER of AZT, the condom industry - if you choose to differentiate it from the pharmaceuticals, celebrities, NGOs and the list goes on.

The condom industry is worth an estimated thirteen billion dollars presently, and this turns out to be big money. Our research showed 82 percent of condom users buy condoms solely as a result of the fear of contacting AIDS. Meaning of every one thousand condom buyers, 820 of these buyers make the decision to buy a condom because of the fear of AIDS.

You can put this to yourself…without the whole HIV/AIDS hoax or better still, if the world realises the truth behind the whole HIV hoax, the condom industry stands to lose 82 percent of its customers; in financial terms, it loses 82 percent of its thirteen billion dollar worth. With this to play for, the condom companies will continue to share around the AIDS hoax.

The pharmaceutical companies for their part are responsible for breeding and increasing the number of immune deficient patients around the world, most especially in Africa. The AZT which is a major drug sold by pharmaceutical companies like Glaxo/Borough Wellcome was found to destroy the immune system, thus allowing the human body to develop identical systems indicative of AIDS.

AZT was found by our research team and even by American toxicologist and pathologist Ali Al-Bayati Ph.D. to be responsible for the following diseases/conditions, among others: neutropenia, granulocytopenia, anemia, thrombocyte, nail pigmentation, sinusitis, acne, dyspnea, mouth ulcer, body odour, hyperbilirubinemia, vasculities, lactic acidiosis, sensitisation reactions, myositis, heptamegaly with steatosis, syncope, edema of the tongue, cough, abdominal pain, back pain, pancreatitis… amongst a list of many others.

Other AIDS drugs such as Nevirapine, protease inhibitors and ARTS have adverse effects similar to that of the Azt drugs. These drugs ensure users are dependent on them for life, failure to use them results in an almost instant death. There are thousands of people who have been diagonized with AIDS, and have courageously refused AIDS medication. Our research team came across hundreds of such people, amongst them being GOLDIE GLITTERS, who has lived for 30 years after being declared HIV POSITIVE. In his own words, he said:

"I have known so many people who have died of AIDS... and all of them took the drugs prescribed by doctors... I have never taken any of these drugs and I haven't gotten sicker. Not even a cold. The doctors told me I had just 5 years to live... I have lived 30 years since then. These drug companies producing the AIDS medications are getting very rich... everyone I know who were HIV positive and taken the AIDS medication, have all died after taking these drugs, and that is a whole lot of people".

Pharmaceutical companies are in the driving seat in terms of increasing the so-called AIDS patients, around the world. THE MORE THE NUMBER OF PERSONS DOWN WITH DESTROYED IMMUNE SYSTEMS,THE MORE THE PROFIT. That is the HIV/AIDS rule.

MN: You mentioned Governments?

CM: Governments have many times become the biggest benefactors of this racket. Top government officials in many countries across the world know and do have an idea about the AIDS fraud. They know AIDS is not a disease, but a state of the body, they know HIV doesn't result in AIDS, but they continue to budget billions, millions depending on the government in the name of research programmes, awareness...

The biggest beneficiary of this AIDS racket is the American government. Using platforms like PEPFAR, they exploit unsuspecting countries across the world. PEPFAR focuses mainly on fifteen countries presently, which include: Botswana, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Guyana, Haiti, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, Vietnam and Zambia.

These are believed to be countries with some of the highest numbers of cases of AIDS infections, but in true sense these are the countries whose governments benefit wholesomely from the AIDS fraud and have allowed for the AIDS fraud to be used as a pretext for exploitation. In a country like Nigeria, the American government provides ARTS, AZTS in exchange for unrefined crude oil, the Gafi research team has got evidence to back this claim.

Thus, while they make a fools profit in the name of AIDS assistance, they also ensure the potential false AIDS victims increase by destroying immune systems of millions of people via the AZT drugs. The USA does the same in most of the 15 which it claims it has plans to spend over 1 billion dollars on in the year 2012.

NGOs are a tool used by both the corrupt world governments involved in the AIDS fraud and are also sponsored by pharmaceutical companies championing the fraud. In doing this, some NGOs in Sub-saharan Africa have resulted to shooting still images, video clips on the streets showing people, and homes and claiming they are special homes, environments created for AIDS patients.

MN: So what about the celebrities who champion the cause of HIV/AIDS?

CM: So-called celebrities advertising and energising the lies fed the world by the mainstream media propaganda in the name of raising awareness; they are also responsible for the progress of the fraud. We see all of them. So-called stars, disc jockeys, sportsmen and women with ribbons pinned on white tuxedos... These are the compassionate so-called celebrities, who with a sad expression, don the mantle of cooperate grief for AIDS victims and sufferers, and feel they are doing good.

Some of these people know the truth, but won't say because they have been paid to raise awareness for falsehood. I won't mention names. Others do this with the best of intentions. They use their popularity to raise funds for AIDS research which is entirely misdirected and orchestrated by profit, desire for more money and not for more good-not for the love of human life. Oprah Winfrey should know better.

HIV/AIDS is not a result of sexual activities. They are perpetrating the myth of the friend who was unlucky to get AIDS by one unfortunate sexual encounter. They collide with government, pharmaceuticals, NGOs in the dangerous cult of death worship. They intentionally direct attention away from high risk factors including recreational and intravenous drug use which accompany immune deficiency. AIDS is a cruel deception which is maintained because so many people are making money from it. Take away this money and the entire system of mythology collapses.

MN: And the connection between AIDS and Africa?

CM: It is disturbing to see the various lies going around and sponsored by the world media, which are responsible for such notions like the one which claims AIDS or HIV is an African Monkey virus that is spread sexually and can be treated with proven harmful drugs-AZT, ART… Today in Africa, especially Sub-Saharan Africa, the AIDS nightmare is continuing and growing more frightening as each day goes by, not because of any viral pandemic, sweeping across the plains of Africa, but because of an orchestrated pandemic of lies and deceit, sweeping across the globe via a western controlled campaign.

In actual fact, our research and even other earlier research by independent firms, analysts and scientists have stated clearly that it is a pre-existing illness of which the majority of patients can be treated easily and cheaply, but who are not, that are now accounting for so much of the spiralling conventional so-called AIDS death statistics.

The WHO, World Bank, UNAIDS, associated UN organisations, the pharmaceutical giants and related media colleagues... are manipulating the AIDS campaign to continue with their scare-mongering AIDS DEATH HEADLINES. According to the UN and WHO, 20.8 million Africans, which is two thirds of the global total of AIDS victims, are either AIDS positive or living with HIV without knowing. I should ask, if the African so-called sufferers themselves don't know they are infected, how come the UN and WHO know this? Very simple, it is all fraud.

Africa is like a pretty lady, men come around to woo her hand in marriage. With each man comes different tactics, and ideas; the west are just amongst the many suitors. All of the AIDS false campaigns are just another method for westerners attempting to steal more of Africa's wealth. Africans must reject and condemn the western world stigmatising it as the epicentre of AIDS. Much of the statistics being peddled about AIDS are lies, what is more: there isn't even a reliable AIDS test at the moment, anywhere in the world.

MN: And the Gafi Institute has discovered herbal remedies?

CM: Joan Shenton, award-winning British producer and journalist referred to the claims of AIDS in Africa as a bad science; I agree absolutely with that. During our five years of research, the Gafi Institute discovered a couple of drugs which have over the last ten years transformed so- called AIDS patients to test negative after a short period of use. One of such is Joby formular, now known as Jobelyn. Jobelyn was discovered by the Gafi research to be just a herbal therapy used for replenishing lost body nutrients.

I should state that this therapy transformed 1520 AIDS patients who were administered with the therapy by doctors at the Gafi institute, in six months to test negative. If a nutrient replacement therapy/supplement can transform a patient's status from positive to negative, I think there is no better proof to counter the lies saying AIDS is a killer disease rather than a state of immune deficiency which can be as a result of well over sixty different diseases or conditions.

India has made available a list of 1,300 newly registered yoga poses, compiled to prevent the ancient moves from being exploited by patent pirates, the Times of India said.

Hindu gurus and some 200 scientists compiled the list from 16 ancient texts to prevent yoga teachers in the United States and Europe from patenting established poses as their own.

The database, which includes 200 video demonstrations, will be made available to international patent offices through India's Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL).

"We are making available the 30-40 most popular yoga asanas in the open domain," TKDL head, V K Gupta said. "The rest will be available only to patent offices."

He said more poses from another 20 ancient texts would be added to the list.

Yoga has become a lucrative business in Europe and the United States since it was popularized by celebrities in the 1960s and 70s. In India, however, the centuries-old tradition is still taught free of charge in public parks.

Indians have been outraged by attempts by "yoga gurus" in the West to patent poses. In the United States alone, the patent authorities have issued more than 130 yoga-related patents, 150 copyrights and 2,300 trademarks related to the ancient practice.

The Japanese Patent Office signed an agreement on Wednesday with the TKDL to receive access to the list.
India has already signed similar agreements with patent offices in the United States, Europe, Australia and Canada.

Ktaka may appoint official to manage Nithyananda ashram

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Although law minister S Suresh Kumar announced in Dharwad on Saturday that the state government may take control of the administration of controversial godman Nithyanandas Dhyanapeetam in Bidadi following allegations of objectionable activities there, the government wants to tread cautiously. It may await the outcome of the court cases Nithyananda is facing.
Forests minister CP Yogeshwar, who is in charge of Ramanagaram district where the ashram is situated, told STOI that he would meet with the district deputy commissioner and SP on Monday to decide the future course of action.
According to him,if the government decides to appoint an administrator,it has to examine under which Act this can be done. The administrators role will also have to be fixed on whether he will be overseeing ashram land or its assets or administration, he said.
A senior minister said before appointing an administrator, specific charges have to be framed against the persons heading or running the ashram.Currently, the issue is in court. The ashram is not some cooperative society which can be superseded and an administrator appointed immediately,he said.
The ministers said the ashram could be taken over on the lines of Vaidyanatheswara temple in Gokarna, whose management was handed over to Ramachandrapur Mutt,or the Sri Krishna temple in Udupi, which was taken off the list of scheduled temples, and its management handed over to the ashta mutts.
Meanwhile,a day after being arrested by Bidadi police, around 15 pro-Kannada activists were released from judicial custody on Saturday. They were arrested late Friday night after women disciples of Nithyananda filed a police complaint that the activists had barged into the ashram and created havoc.
Condemning the attack on mediapersons and others, various social organizations urged the government to arrest Nithyananda immediately.Politicians, including opposition leader Siddaramaiah, condemned the incident.Nithyanandas ashram is becoming a hub for all sort of illegal activities. The government should seize the property and arrest the tainted swami immediately, he said in Hassan.

HC SETBACK
Official,peon get 2-year jail for 150 bribe

Shibu Thomas TNN

Mumbai: Inflation and the price rise in the last 14 years proved to be detrimental to a senior government officer who was charged with accepting a bribe of Rs 150 in 1998.The Bombay High Court threw out the officers plea that the amount was trivial and he should not be convicted on corruption charges.
This court has no hesitation to observe that the amount involved,Rs 150 was not a trivial amount,as it was demanded and accepted in the year 1998.In those days, ordinary labour was getting hardly Rs 30 per day as wages,'' said Justice T V Nalawade while upholding theconviction of Ramrao Kale (48),a sub registrar, and Shivrao Deshmukh, who was a peon,on charges of corruption. The high court said that the trial court was right in sentencing the duo to a two-year prison term.
The accused refuted the bribe allegations by claiming that the money was donated by the complainant for the Flag Fund and for buying IndiraVikas Patra. The court chided the accused for trying to create false records and cautioned the government against keeping officers on the same post after bribe allegations are levelled against them.

20 MPs,dynasty,lead UPs LS charge

Political Science Expert Says The Trend Is Destroying Democratic Fabric

Arunav Sinha TNN

Lucknow: By winning the Kannauj parliamentary election unopposed,Dimple Yadav, wife of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, has not only created history by becoming the third MP from the state to win unopposed, but also helped the first family of the Samajwadi Party to retain its clout in Parliament.
Dimple now joins her father-in-law Mulayam Singh Yadav,uncle-in-law Ram Gopal Yadav and brother-in-law Dharmendra Yadav at Parliament House.Apart from the Yadavs, the other families from UP which make their presence felt in Parliament are the Gandhi and Chaudhary families. This takes the count of MPs to 10.But if the spouses and children of former and current politicians are considered, then the total number of UP MPs who have inherited politics either from their parents or spouses is around 20.
Prior to Dimple, the Kannauj seat was held by her husband Akhilesh Yadav.Akhilesh resigned as Kannauj MP after becoming the chief minister following SPs win in the 2012 assembly elections.
While the next session of the Lok Sabha is likely to see Dimple learning the nuances of politics from her inlaws,Gandhi siblings (Rahul and Varun) and Jayant Chaudhary who belongs to the third generation of former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh, will watch their family members participate in various decision-making processes and debates.
Interestingly, barring Maneka Gandhi and her son Varun, all the other members of this elite club of MPs are either part of the treasury benches or extend support to the ruling coalition. The entry of Dimple in the lower house of Parliament also assumes significance in the wake of the upcoming presidential polls.
However, political science experts do not view it as a healthy sign for democracy in the long run.Throwing light on the trend,Prof S K Dwivedi of the Lucknow University said,Over the years, the definition of politics has transformed itself from serving the society to serve ones own interest. Its surprising to see that welleducated individuals, who could achieve much more in life, enter politics only to continue the legacy of their parents.Equally discouraging is the trend of appointing sons and daughters of party chiefs to senior party posts. This is simply destroying the democratic fabric of the country which is not a good sign.
Another interesting aspect of these elite family politicians is that in the 2009 general elections most of them had swept the polls. While Congress president Sonia Gandhis margin of win of 3,72,165 was the highest in Uttar Pradesh, her son Rahul and nephew Varun recorded landslide wins from Amethi and Pilibhit by overwhelming margins of 3,70,198 and 2,81,501 votes respectively.Similarly,Jayant Chaudhary got the better of his nearest rival in Mathura with a difference of 1,69,613 votes.
Similarly,SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav triumphed from Mainpuri while Akhilesh posted wins from Kannauj and Firozabad. The margin of win for Mulayam was 1,73,069 votes, while for his son it was 1,15,864 votes in Kannauj and 67,301 in Firozabad.Akhilesh later resigned from Firozabad and retained Kannauj. The SP then fielded Dimple in the November 2009 Firozabad byelection,in which SP turncoat and Congress candidate Raj Babbar defeated MSYs bahu by a margin of 85,343 votes.
The margin of win was rather slim for senior BJP leader and Aonla MP Maneka Gandhi, who won by a margin of 7,681 votes.Similarly,RLD chief and Bagpath MP Ajit Singh trounced his nearest rival by 63,027 votes and Budaun MP Dharmendra Yadav of SP got the better of his rival by a margin 32,542 votes.

Nithyananda could be arrested soon

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: Karnataka chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Monday directed the home department to initiate legal action against self-styled godman swami Nithyananda, including his arrest.
After a high-level meeting with home minister R Ashoka, law minister S Suresh Kumar and top police officials, including DGP Lalrokhuma Pachau,Gowda said he had asked the Ramanagaram deputy commissioner and the superintendent of police to secure the custody of his ashram (Dhyanapeetham) to collect evidence about its activities and seal it till order is restored. However, police officials are waiting for the governments order to launch a crackdown.
The decision follows recent unsavoury incidents at the ashram in Bidadi,30km from Bangalore, and complaints by several women devotees accusing the godman of committing rape and sexual abuse.
A US-based woman has lodged a complaint, alleging that the godman had sexually abused her for five years.

Who lets pvt buses into residential areas, asks HC

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Chennai: Police officers allowing private omni buses to illegally enter and park in residential areas in the city are in trouble,as the Madras high court has sought details of officers who fail to stop such vehicles.
The first bench comprising Chief Justice M Y Eqbal and Justice T S Sivagnanam gave the directive on Tuesday, when a public interest writ petition filed by K Krishnamani of Acharappan Street in Parrys Corner cameup for admission.
The commissioner of police is to file an affidavit and to state as to what action has been taken against the traffic police officers,in whose jurisdiction omni buses and such vehicles are parked in violation of rules, the judges said. They then posted the PIL after two weeks for further hearing.
In his petition,Krishnamani submitted that omni buses were entering the narrow lanes of Mannady and that several offices had been set up to stock up parcels and to sell tickets.Every day, from morning till midnight, many omni buses are coming to the bylanes of Mannady.Vehicles are parked in the area for many hours, he said, identifying areas such as Thambu Chetty Street,Lingi Chetty Street,Angappa Naicken Street,Second Line Beach,Jaffar Syrang Street andN arayana Samy Street as the most affectedlocalities.
Noting that the bus operatorswereusing their officesin these narrow streets as originating point,he said scores of passengers assemble in these places every day and presence of large buses too obstructed free vehicular and pedestrian trafficin the area.
This practice of using the residential area as a permanent pick-up area by omni buses is violation of a high court order delivered in December 2003,he said, adding that law enforcing authorities were keeping quiet because the bus operators were influential people.

E-services keep postal cash registers ringing

Pratiksha Ramkumar TNN

Chennai:WalkintotheBesant Nagar postofficein ShastriN agar on a Friday morning around 10,and you will find a queue of at least seven people in front of the postage and savingsbankcounters.Lookclosely and you will see a longer queuein frontof thee-post and e-billcounters.
Data shows that this is a growing trendin the12,185 post offices in the Tamil Nadu region, which includes Puducherry, after India Postdecided to embrace internet mailing ande-banking system.
The departments e-post and e-bill services in Tamil Naduhaveseen a steady risein the number of customers in the last three years, compared to the 66,000 people who used it in the year 2009.We decided to target the rural population who may not have internet access,or haveemailids, but need a letter to reach in just a couple of hours, said a postal departmentofficial.
E-post,a service introduced by India Post four years ago, allows people to send messages through email to remote destinations. The post office in that destination will print out the letter and deliver ittothe addressee.Thoughthis system still faces competition from the facsimile (fax ) or directemail, officialssayitworks as a faster alternative to courier service.Students in villages who want to send documents or letters to colleges use thisservice, saidtheofficial.
Another service that India Post has received praise for is thee-bill paymentservice.Last year more than 47 lakh people paid their bills at post offices compared to the 27 lakh people who used it in 2009.This serviceworks as a one-stop shop to pay phone bills, electricity bills, feesfor a few nationaluniversities and even taxes. It used to take me at least two days in long queues to pay all mybills, tillIdiscoveredthisfacility four months back, said Indira Rajan from Thiruvanmiyur.
Department officials say though customers availing these services have increased, the thought of post offices going empty in future still persists.Even now the crowd is mostly the elderly, and homemakers. We are scared the younger generation may never get the post office-experience, said a senior official. The reason for this is lack of awareness and advertising.
It was about seven years ago,the postal department introduced electronic and internet-based services to draw crowds back into the red and whitebuildings.

Kids made to perform oral sex, yoga in nude

Ajay Sura | TNN

Chandigarh: Children, many between five and 10 years, were forced into oral sex and performing yoga in the nude at the Rohtak shelter home raided by a National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) team early May.An inmate was found to be HIV positive.
Such revelations are part of a report submitted on Wednesday by two members advocate Anil Malhotra and Sudeepti Sharma of a probe panel set up by the Punjab and Haryana HC after the raid at Apna Ghar, run by an NGO.Jaswanti Devi, who ran the home, was arrested.About 101 inmates of the home were sent to various homes in Haryana after the arrest of Jaswanti and her accomplices.
The report,a copy of which is with TOI,said most of the girls were made to garland men, saying they were married, and forced to consent to physical relationship.
The panel found a woman shifted from Apna Ghar to another shelter home in a nearby district tested HIV positive.
Some children between five and 10 years complained of sexual abuse, including oral sex,by Jaswantis son-inlaw Jai Bhagwan and driver Satish, said the report.Satish filmed inmates as they performed yoga naked,it said.
Jaswanti sold a speech- and hearing-impaired girl thrice and another girl was reportedly found pregnant.
During their interaction, the probe panel members found inmates with blank/frozen expression, presumably due to addiction to the white powder, which was administered in a soft drink in the home before forcing them for sexual encounters with outsiders.
According to the report, inmates were terrified and opened up after much persuasion. Most girls said Satish would drive them to hotels where cops abused them sexually. This was repulsive, painful and agonizing, the report quoted the inmates as saying.
Newborn boys were sold to people in the garb of adoption by Jaswanti. If it were a girl, she would be reared to serve males visiting the home. All inmates were made to consume intoxicants on festivals like Holi and Satish and Jai Bhagwan would put colour on their private parts, the report said.
The panel asked the court to transfer the case from the Haryana Police and hand it over to an independent agency like the CBI for a thorough probe, prosecution and trial of the accused.
The panel suggested brain mapping and lie detector tests for all the seven accused and examination of all electronic equipment like laptops, computers, mobile phones, cameras and recording devices belonging to them to check allegations of child pornography.

Maintenance is for sustenance, not luxury: Court

Rosy Sequeira TNN

Mumbai: The law for maintenance is for providing sustenance and not luxury, the family court here has ruled, while rejecting, with some strong words,a senior citizens plea for help from his son born out of wedlock.
In the curious case, the 72-year-old,claiming that he was facing a funds crunch, sought interim maintenance of Rs 1 lakh from his 43-yearold son,who earns Rs 8 lakh per month, under section 125 (order for maintenance of wives, children and parents) of the Criminal Procedure Code in 2011.
His son contested the claim, saying the application was meant to harass him.He said there was no marriage between his mother and his biological father. The person lived with them in a flat, but her mother was married to his stepfather and had four daughters with him.
His advocate Neelofar Akhtar pointed out that the petitioner had not demanded maintenance from his own son from a marriage. Moreover,he continues to live free of cost in the same flat and the household expenses and other outgoings are paid for by the 43-yearolds stepsister.
Claiming that the petitioner is a wealthy person and his bank statements show he is receiving steady income,Akhtar said Section 125 cannot be used to get luxury. The senior citizens lawyer,Ashutosh Khandeparkar, countered that considering the profile of the respondent, the petitioner is entitled to luxuries like a car.
After hearing the arguments, judge P L Palsingankar said: The provision contained in section 125 is not for those who intend to have luxury in their life. This provision is made to take care of such persons who do not have funds to keep their body and soul together.
Pulling up the petitioner for abusing the provision of law,he added that it cannot be misused by the elite class of society who have exposure to equity markets, mutual funds, have credit cards, bank facility, who own real estate and whose turnover is in lakhs and crores.
The judge ruled the petitioner cannot claim to be a destitute or person without means. He noted that last year when he filed the plea claiming he had no means to support himself, one of his bank accounts showed deposits of over Rs 2 crore. He has deposited lakhs of rupees in the bank and is withdrawing lakhs of rupees, he said, adding that documents showed the petitioner has had a healthy financial background since 2007.

No pills for high BP advice sends doctors pulse racing

Malathy Iyer TNN

Mumbai: Its a potential bombshell in the medical arena.A new study suggests that people with mild hypertension a reading of 140/90 mm should not be popping daily pills to control their condition.
In India where every fifth,if not every fourth, adult is a hypertensive, this radical thought could further raise blood pressure.
Has all the pill-popping been in vain A Cochrane Review published recently has concluded as much: there have been no reduction in deaths, incidence of heart disease or stroke among 9,000 patients who have been taking medication for four to five years. The prestigious Review journal said it had reviewed data from four randomized trials conducted in the UK,Australia and the U S to arrive at its conclusion.
The patients who were reviewed had systolic blood pressure between 140 and 159 mm Hg and diastolic reading between 90 and 99 mm Hg.This is classified across the world, including India,as mild hypertension. There have,of course, been allegations from health activists that the hypertension definition has been manipulated in such a manner that the pharmaceutical industry can sell its medication to the maximum number of patients.
But hypertension or elevated blood pressure cannot be taken lightly. It can, over a period of time, wreak havoc with ones system. It increases a persons risk for heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and even blindness.Predictably, most doctors here are upset with the Cochrane review. Its a review and not an actual study on the effects of medication, said endocrinologist Shashank Joshi, who has conducted pan-India study on the incidence of diabetes and hypertension. Many western reports on the review suggest that newer medications were not included in this review. The UK Blood Pressure Associations professor Gareth Beevers said in his statement: There is a danger that some journalists and patients will take this review as evidence that hypertension in general is not worth treating. If lots of patients with severer grades of hypertension with existing CVD stop their tablets, there could be disastrous consequences.
This fear is shared by Indian doctors.Dr Anoop Misra from Fortis Hospital in Delhi felt is too early to consider changing the course of therapy of mild hypertension. The trials considered in this review were done only up to five years, while consequence of mild hypertension may appear only after decade or later, he said. Moreover,he felt that Indians may have different results with drug treatment of mild hypertension.I suspect our results are more positive than those seen in Caucasians, said Dr Misra, who is also associated with Diabetes Foundation of India.
In India, the hypertension picture becomes more serious when one considers the epidemic of diabetes;their combination is certainly more dangerous than their occurrence in isolation.Diabetes affects 61 million Indians, according to 2011 figures.Given the burden of diabetes and hypertension in the country,we should have more vigorous and aggressive treatment, said cardiologist N O Bansal, who heads the department in JJ Hospitals medical school.
Moreover,in India,a sizeable number of patients dont know that they are suffering from hypertension. The epidemic in India is still silent and undetected in many patients. The question of overmedication hence doesnt arise, feel experts.

SC-STs fail to break the caste ceiling

Not 1 From SC Among 149 Top Govt Officers;40% End Up Doing Menial Jobs

Subodh Varma TIMES INSIGHT GROUP

How are members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes faring in the government hierarchy At the very top level of the government bureaucracy, out of a total of 149 secretary-level officers, there were no SC officers while there were only 4 ST officers,as of March 2011,according to a reply given by the MoS in the Prime Ministers Office V Narayanasamy.
At the next rung of additional secretary, out of 108 officers, there are just two each from SC and ST.Further down, out of 477 joint secretaries,31 belong to SC,that is,6.5% and 15 belong to ST that is 3.1%.And out of 590 directors,17 belong to SC (2.9%) while seven belong to ST (1.2%).
There is no reservation for these posts but one would expect that out of the pool of officers from SC and ST entering the civil services through quota 15% for SC,7.5% for ST and 27% for OBC a better proportion would have made it to these top rungs by now.
Actually, even in the most sought after civil services,IAS,IPS and IFS,the proportion of SC,ST and OBC officers was below the mandated quotas.Out of 3,251 directly recruited IAS officers,SC officers made up 13.9%,ST officers 7.3% and OBCs just 12.9%.This information, too, was stated in the Lok Sabha by Narayanasamy in 2011.Clearly,the underprivileged sections are not yet getting the full advantage of affirmative action envisaged by the Constitution makers. This is further confirmed by the huge number of vacancies in government positions reserved for SCs and STs.
According to a statement given in the LS in November last year by Narayanasamy, there were 25,037 backlog posts for SC lying vacant in 73 government departments and bodies. These are positions reserved for SC members that have not been filled over the years and thus have accumulated. They include both direct recruitment and promotion-based positions.Out of these,4,518 positions were vacant because no candidate was available for promotion.Similarly for ST,28,173 backlog posts were vacant,of which 7,416 were meant for filling up by promotion.
If you look at all central government employees,17% of them were SC while 7.4% were ST.This appears to be fulfilling the mandated norms of 15% SC and 7.5% ST.But there is a catch. There is a deep skew of SC/ST members in the hierarchy of central government jobs as you move up the ladder, there are less and less employees /officers from SC/ST.Among Group A officers, only 11.1% were SC and 4.6% ST.In Group B,the shares were 14.3% and 5.5%,respectively.In group C,there were 16% SC and 7.8% ST,slightly more than the quota. And in Group D,there were 19.3% SC and 7% ST.
This high proportion of SC in Group D is because nearly 40% of safai karamcharies are SC.This pushes up the proportions all round.Actually it only denotes the harsh reality that despite all the talk of ending discrimination and socio-economic upliftment, dalits are still forced to do most menial jobs.

SC/ST teaching slots in Central univs lie vacant

Akshaya Mukul TNN

New Delhi: The HRD ministry has overwhelmingly supported the proposed Bill that seeks to give reservation to SC/ST employees in promotion. But the scenario in HRDs own backyard is anything but enthusiastic.
Just over 32% of sanctioned teaching posts for SCs and 41.8% for STs in 40 central universities are occupied. This includes premier institutions like the Delhi University,Jawaharlal Nehru University,Aligarh Muslim University and University of Hyderabad.Vacancies exist in all three categories assistant professor, associate professor and professor.
Ironically,in central varsities, central governmentrun deemed universities and colleges, not only there are reservation for SCs/STs for direct recruitment, but also in promotion.JNU was the last central varsity to agree to give reservation in promotion.Only IITs and IIMs have been exempted from grant of reservation in promotion.
On the face of it,the ministry claims it has done everything possible to improve the situation. Its effort includes writing regular letters to central varsities and other institutions to launch special drives to fill the backlog vacancies for SCs/STs.
The regulator,UGC,shows its 2006 guidelines for strict implementation of reservation policy in central government institutions.UGC also told universities not to indulge in the practice of creating department-wise cadres which tends to create single posts with artificially reduced number of posts to avoid reservation.Initially, many universities protested against quota in promotion but eventually fell in line, a ministry official says.
Rajya Sabha MP Bhalchandra Mungekar, who was actively involved in formulation of UGCs 2006 regulation, counters the ministrys claim. The basic problem is that central universities are not following UGCs guideline.Reservation in direct recruitment is being flouted, he says.Another senior universities says,If vacancies at the entry level are not filled,it would adversely affect the overall picture.Reservation in promotion would not help and vacancies would still remain.
While JNU has worked out a process of quota in promotion at the level of associate professor,DU is yet to form anything concrete.A section within JNU say diluting quality for promotion would have long-term impact.System of affiliated colleges in DU makes it difficult to put in place a system of reservation in promotion, says a senior DU official.

DMK chief strongly backs SPs demand to include OBCs

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Chennai: The DMK,a key UPA ally,on Wednesday strongly backed the Samajwadi Partys demand for ensuring that the purview of the Bill to provide reservation in promotion to SCs and STs in government jobs was extended to include OBCs as well.
In a party press release,DMK president M Karuanidhi said SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav did not oppose reservation for SC and ST communities. The SP and Mulayam have only one question why the bill to provide reservation in promotion to SCs and STs in government jobs did not cover the OBCs This policy is acceptable to us also he said.
Karunanidhi pointed out that his party MP T R Baalu had addressed the same issue during a meeting of Parliamentary party leaders held in New Delhi. The DMK chief s backing of the SP leaders stand is bound to cause more discomfiture for the UPA government, which introduced the bill in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.Karunanidhi, however, held that the Bill was an important one and requested the cooperation of all parties for its smooth passage in Parliament. The current monsoon session will end in the next two days.I request all political parties to extend their cooperation to pass the reservation bill, Karunanidhi said in the statement.
Political observers in the state point out that it was a well-known fact that the DMK has a substantial votebank among the OBCs.DMK Parliamentary party leader Baalu said his party chief s stand only proved the DMKs interest in upholding the policies of social justice. The bill has to uphold social justice and reservation should be extended to OBCs and minorities, Baalu told TOI.Before much delay, the centre should quickly work on bringing the OBCs and minorities under the purview of the Bill, he said.At the same time,Baalu clarified, his party was also keen to ensure that the SCs and STs bill was also passed in Parliament.

Tycoon dad offers $65m to marry off lesbian daughter

Saibal Dasgupta TNN

Beijing: A Hong Kong tycoon is offering $65 million for any man who manages to woo his lesbian daughter into marriage.Property magnate Cecil Chao Sze-tsung said he is even ready to accept a poor son-inlaw for his 33-year-old daughter Gigi Chao.I dont mind whether he is rich or poor. The important thing is that he is generous and kind-hearted, the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post quoted Chao as saying.
Gigis father, the 76-yearold owner of Cheuk Nang (Holdings) Ltd,rejected suggestions that his daughter is a lesbian, and described reports she had gotten hitched as false, the SCMP said.
The reports said she had married Sean Eav,her girlfriend of seven years,in France on April 4.A photograph on her Facebook page shows her in Paris with another female, possibly her partner, last April.Below the picture, she commented at that time: Going to Paris to buy a few businesses.
Gigi is a very good woman with both talents and looks. She is devoted to her parents,is generous and does volunteer work, the tycoon father told SCMP about her daughter, who is a graduate from the University of Manchester.Chao said he would not force his daughter to marry a man against her will.
Comments posted by readers in the newspaper website suggested hostile reaction with some advising Chao not to force his daughter to give up her lesbian life.

FRESH ROYAL CRISIS
Top to bottom: Kates naked pic scandal hits new low

London: Reigniting the privacy scandal surrounding Kate Middleton,a Danish magazine has now published bottomless pictures of her, days after topless snaps of the future British queen had gone viral.
Photographs of 30-yearold Kate changing her bikini bottoms while on a holiday with hubby Prince William in the South of France have been published in the Danish Celebrity magazine Se Og Hor (See And Hear).
The magazine has gone further than any other publication and printed a 16-page special of photographs, including three of the Duchess of Cambridge changing her bikini bottoms, taken from the front, the Daily Mail reported. The photos appear to be from the same set of shots originally taken while the royal couple were holidaying in the South of France.
There are thought to be up to 200 photos taken of Kate and William when they were sunbathing at a secluded chateau. The most revealing photograph in Se Og Hor,which appears on the front page of the magazine, shows the Duchess changing into a pair of blue bikini bottoms.
Kim Henningsen,Se Og Hors editor-in-chief,was unabashed by the threat of legal action and declined to say who sold the photographs.
Its a set of unique photos from an A-class celebrity. It is my job to publish them, Henningsen said.
Kate and William won a landmark injunction in France to stop further publication of the images by Closer magazine, under the threat of a 80,000 fine. They have also handed over all files containing the images to representatives of the couple on the orders of the judge, after they were ruled a brutal invasion of privacy.PTI

Harry is Tatlers next coverboy

After a naked Harry in Las Vegas,a Dirty Harry will become the first man on front page of Tatler magazine since his father in 1992.He will appear as coverboy next month when an image, with the headline Dirty Harry, will feature him in the uniform of his Blues and Royals regiment.PTI

Kate Middleton terrified after nude photo leak

Published: Sunday, Sep 30, 2012, 23:13 IST | Updated: Sunday, Sep 30, 2012, 23:14 IST

Duchess Catherine is said to be begging Prince William for forgiveness.

The mortified Duchess of Cambridge is reportedly terrified she has ruined her reputation and embarrassed her husband after she was completely exposed in a new series of intimate photos.

A source told OK! Magazine, "Kate is mortified. Since she and William met, she's constantly been on guard against embarrassment. When they used to go away with William's friends, Kate would lecture everyone on what not to do in case there were photographers."

The 30-year-old future Queen is devastated at the thought of upsetting him and the rest of the royal family and can't stop apologising since the photos of her sunbathing topless hit newsstands earlier this month.

But there could be some good news for Kate as a Danish magazine has denied publishing "bottomless" pictures of the Duchess in recent days.

Celebrity gossip magazine Se Og Hor reportedly printed a 16-page special of candid shots of her on holiday in the south of France with her husband, in three of which she is seen taking off her bikini bottoms.

The new images appeared to be part of the same set as the topless photographs published in French magazine Closer, before Italy's Chinewspaper and the Irish Daily Star went to press with them.

But the magazine denied claims it had published the images on Saturday, despite images appearing online.

The royal - formerly known as Kate Middleton - recently won a landmark injunction to stop further publication of the topless images by Closermagazine in France, under the threat of a €100,000 (£8,037) fine each day.

Despite the court ruling a "brutal" invasion of privacy and the heavy sanctions, the injunction has not deterred media interest in the pictures and the photos have now made their way online.

BREACH OF DUTY
In Sri Lanka,MPs to impeach first woman top judge

Colombo: Sri Lankas ruling coalition is all set to impeach the countrys first woman chief justice on the charges of improper conduct after weeks of a simmering spat between the executive and the judiciary,a media report said.
A motion to remove chief justice Shirani Bandaranayake from the post will be handed over to the parliamentary speaker on Thursday, the Sinhala language daily Lankadeepa said on Wednesday. The government parliamentary group had endorsed the move at a meeting of the ruling coalition leaders,it said.
The speaker will be informed on the motion under section 107 of the constitution with one third of parliaments 225 members or 75 MPs putting their signatures on the motion. The paper said the motion is to be moved on the basis of the chief justices improper conduct and had been signed already by 117 members of the government.
The government was irked by a ruling on a major financial bill in which the supreme court held that the bill must be referred to provincial councils for approval before being submitted in national parliament. In mid-September the judicial service commission issued a public statement claiming interference in the judiciary by the executive.
Bandaranayake who was appointed last year became the first woman to head the highest court.
She was also the first woman judge in the supreme court.PTI
