Kottiyam, Sept 17: A 69-year-old nun was mysteriously found murdered in a convent in Kerala. The deceased, identified as Sister Amala, was found in a pool of her own blood by fellow nuns at Carmel Convent in Pala near Kottayam.
According to Kottayam district police, the death of Sister Amala is possibly a case of murder. “Primary evidences indicate that the nun was murdered. “We suspect that she died off a deep injury on the back of the head suffered from a blunt object,” said superintendent Satheesh Bino. Initial probe has revealed that attempt of theft could had been made before murdering her. The reason behind assassinating the nun would be to carry out the robbery bid.
The incident first came to light in the morning at 7:30 AM, when the fellow nuns at Carmel Convent came looking for Sister Amala who had not attended the morning mass. On finding Amala dead, the sisters alerted police subsequently.
