Archbishop Dr. A. M. Chinnappa shared his vision about Salesians being called to communicate the gospel values during the Holy Eucharist. Citing his own example with the French missionaries he showed how we can be effective communicators. Fr. Edwin George, the Rector of the Provincial House, Chennai welcomed the dignitaries during the formal General Assembly.

During the Assembly, the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries was followed by a prayer dance by Father A. Jayaseelan, MSFS. ''We need to be the change, we want to see in others'' was the message given by Father Filiberto González, the General Councillor for social communication as he addressed the gathering. In his keynote address,  Dr Xavier Pakkiam spoke on how small ideas can be developed into mass movements using the social media. Two big News Channel personnel Mr Aldam Jacob, Network non-fiction head from SUN TV and Mr Shyam Kumar CEO of Puthiya Thalaimurai enlightened the participants on the various possibilities of using Media for Social change. Mr. Jacob spoke on developing content for screening and asked the Church to be in the forefront with regard to the same. Mr. Kumar said that what was needed is to place facts correctly rather than please others.

During the afternoon session Miss Divya Bharati, through her documentary kakkoos, brought to light the plight of scavengers in Tamil Nadu. She also shared with the viewers her own financial struggles as she screened the documentary 2000 places in India. The final session was by Social Activist and Geo-political commentator, Thirumurugan Gandhi who shared his experiences and urged the participants to use media to empower the people by being a voice to the voiceless and fight for social justice and seek the truth.

The panel discussion with young budding film makers, who shared with the Assembly their journey in social media, giving the participants valuable tips for promoting the video content, was a fitting conclusion for the day.
