The timeline of the Old Testament can be calculated using the ages given in Genesis. Starting with the creation of Adam and adding the information when his son was born, the age of his son, etc. this gives a timeline from Adam's creation to the death of Jacob 2255 years later (according to the Masoretic text, the Septuagint timeline is significantly longer).

  • 0 - Adam (generation 1) is created.
  • 130 - Adam and Eve receive a son, Seth (generation 2)
  • 235 - Enosh is born (generation 3)
  • 325 - Kenan is born (generation 4)
  • 395 - Mahalaleel is born (generation 5)
  • 460 - Jared is born (generation 6)
  • 622 - Enoch is born (generation 7)
  • 687 - Methuselah is born (generation 8) "Methuselah" can be translated "when he dies it comes."[citation needed]
  • 874 - Lamech is born (generation 9)
  • 930 - Adam dies, 930 year old
  • 987 - Enoch taken up by God (did not die [Gen5:24]), 365 year old
  • 1042 - Seth dies, 912 year old
  • 1056 - Noah is born (generation 10)
  • 1140 - Enosh dies, 905 year old
  • 1235 - Kenan dies, 910 year old
  • 1290 - Mahalaleel dies, 895 year old
  • 1422 - Jared dies, 962 year old
  • 1556 - Noah receives three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth (generation 11)
  • 1651 - Lamech (Noah's father) dies, 777 year old
  • 1656 - Methuselah dies the same year as the flood comes, 969 year old
  • 1658 - generation 12 is born
  • 1693 - generation 13 is born
  • 1723 - generation 14 is born
  • 1757 - generation 15 is born
  • 1787 - generation 16 is born
  • 1819 - generation 17 is born
  • 1849 - generation 18 is born
  • 1878 - generation 19 is born
  • 1948 - Abraham (generation 20) is born
  • 1958 - Sarah, Abrahams wife, is born
  • 1996 - generation 15 dies, this is the first dead mentioned in the Bible after the flood
  • 1997 - generation 18 dies
  • 2006 - Noah, generation 10 after Adam, dies at the age of 950 years
  • 2026 - generation 16 dies
  • 2034 - Ishmael (generation 21) is born
  • 2048 - Isaac (generation 21) is born
  • 2085 - Sarah dies
  • 2088 - Isaac is married at the age of 40, with Rebecca
  • 2096 - generation 12 dies
  • 2108 - Isaac receive two sons
  • 2123 - Abraham (generation 20) dies at the age of 175 years
  • 2126 - generation 13 dies
  • 2156 - Shem (generation 11 and 100 years when the flood came), dies at the age of 600 years
  • 2187 - generation 14 dies
  • 2228 - Isaac (generation 21) dies at the age of 180 years
  • 2238 - Jacob (generation 22) moves to Egypt at the age of 130 years
  • 2255 - Jacob (generation 22) dies in Egypt, 147 year old

Noah must be alive when Abraham was living as per Masoteric

 

Now more than 1500 years difference between both- why?

 

calling it Scribal error would be childish
