இந்த நாட்டு கோழியை சாப்பிடுவோருக்கு தேவையான புரோட்டீன், புரதச் சத்துக்கள் கிடைக்கின்றன. இதன் மூலம் நமக்கு தேவையான நோய் எதிர்ப்புச் சக்தி கிடைக்கிறது.

ஆனால் பிராய்லர் கோழி இறைச்சி மனிதனின் உடல் நலத்திற்கு பல்வேறு கேடுகளை விளைவிக்கிறது. தொடர்ச்சியாக பிராய்லர் கோழி சாப்பிடுவோர் குடல் புற்றுநோயின் பிடியில் சிக்கி விடுவார்கள். இதற்கு காரணம் பிராய்லர் கோழியானது இயற்கையான முறையில் வளர்க்கப்படாததுதான்.

6 மாதத்தில் முழு வளர்ச்சி அடைய வேண்டிய இக்கோழிகள் பல்வேறு ரசாயணங்கள் மூலம் மிகவும் குறுகிய காலத்திலேயே முழு வளர்ச்சியை பெற்று விடுகின்றன.

ரசாயணங்கள் மூலம் வளர்ச்சி அடையும் பிராய்லர் கோழி சதையில் கெட்ட கொழுப்பு (கொலஸ்ட்ரால்) அதிக அளவில் உள்ளது. இதை நாம் சாப்பிடும்போது நமது உடலில் கெட்ட கொழுப்பு சத்துதான் அதிக அளவில் சேருகின்றன. இந்த கெட்ட கொழுப்பானது நமது கல்லீரலில் வீக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தி விடுகிறது.இதனை கொழுப்பு நிறைந்த ஈரல் நோய் என்கிறோம்.

பிராய்லர் கோழி இறைச்சி சாப்பிடுவோரின் உடலில் கெட்ட கொலஸ்ட்ரால் அதிகரிப்பதால், அது ரத்த நாளத்தில் புகுந்து அடைப்பை ஏற்படுத்துகிறது. இதனால் ரத்த அழுத்தம், ரத்த கொழுப்பு ஏற்படுகிறது.

நம் நாட்டில் ஏராளமானோர் பிராய்லர் கோழி இறைச்சி சாப்பிடுவதால் 100-ல் 65 பேருக்கு கொழுப்பு நிறைந்த ஈரல் நோய் உள்ளது. இங்குள்ள பெரும்பாலான உணவகங்களில் ஏற்கனவே பயன்படுத்திய எண்ணையை அதிக அளவில் பயன்படுத் துவதால் கல்லீரல் கோளாறின் பிடியில் சிக்கித் தவிக்கிறார்கள்.

பொதுவாக கோழி இறைச்சியில் கொழுப்புச் சத்து அதிகம். அதிலும் பிராய்லர் கோழியில் கெட்ட கொழுப்புச் சத்து அதிகமாக இருப்பதால் அதை தவிர்ப்பது நல்லது. நாட்டுக்கோழி இயற்கையாக வளர்க்கப்படுவதால் பெரிய அளவில் நமது உடம்பை பதம் பார்ப்பதில்லை.

Power void in Naxal ranks reason behind kidnappings of duo

New Delhi: The abduction of two Italians in Odishas Kandhamal seems to have been triggered by the power vacuum in the Maoist hierarchy,and personal ambition of regional satraps.Sabyasachi Panda,chief of the Maoists Odisha State Organizing Committee (ORSOC),is allegedly the mastermind of the abduction.He is reportedly eyeing the top post of the outfits eastern regional bureau (ERB) after Maoist leader Kishenji was killed in an encounter in West Bengal last year.
But,sources in the know ruled out the possibility.Though Panda is a good organizer,he is weak in military organization and tactics,which were Kishenjis strength.
Akin to Kishenji,Panda is known to be publicity- hungry and ruthless.
What also works against Pandas elevation as the ERB chief is that he is not yet a CC member.In an interview in February,Panda had,however,dismissed the possibility of his elevation.Its only police propaganda to divert the attention of cadres, he said.Panda had a meteoric rise through the Maoist ranks.At 43,he is quite young to head the ORSOC.This is unusual among Maoists,where senior posts are given to leaders with decades of experience in the ranks.As he rose in the party,his ambitions also soared.Panda has been most vocal about domination of Andhra Pradesh leaders in the top echelons of the CPI-Maoist.
At a meeting in Jharkhand late last year,Panda was tasked with reorganizing the Maoists in Bengal following Kishenjis death.The meeting was attended by Kishanda alias Prasanta Bose,one of the top three Maoist leaders.
The abduction of Italians is,perhaps,the first instance of Maoists holding foreigners hostage.Sources said overground activists and supporters of Maoists are unhappy with the Italians abduction as it could lead to a backlash globally.It seems to a desperate bid by local Maoists (read Panda) to grab headlines, said a source.Panda is the biggest collector of money for the Maoists in Odisha through extortion.His wife Subhashree,who worked in a private company,was arrested in 2010.

Between 2004-09,Poverty Figure Increased By 50L Under Nitish Kumars Govt

New Delhi: That Bihar under Nitish Kumar grew at over 10% between 2004-05 and 2009-10 is now well known.But data released on Monday shows that in the same period,the number of poor in the state actually grew.
During this five-year period,Bihar added 50 lakh people to the number of its poor,by far the largest number of any Indian state in this period.A look at Planning Commission numbers for 2009-10 and 2004-05 shows that poverty has declined at a negligible rate in Bihar,so much so that the absolute number of people living in poverty has actually increased.In 2009-10,54.4% of Bihar was under the poverty line as compared to 53.5% in 2004-5.
This period coincides almost precisely with Nitish Kumars first term asCM,raising a question over the real impact of his administration and the high growth the state has seen on the lives of the common Bihari.
Reduction of poverty is brought about by agricultural transformation,but Bihars growth was construction-centric, says Shaibal Gupta,social scientist and founder-member secretary of the Patna-based think-tank,the Asian Development Research Institute.Construction-based growth does not address the problems of poverty in a constructive manner, he added.However,Gupta,who has worked closely with the Nitish administration,is positive.The government is in the process of chalking out a techno-managerial strategy to bring about a new green revolution, the social scientist said.
Chhattisgarh,Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are the three states in which poverty has declined.Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have between them 128 million poor people,over a third of all of Indias poor,and roughly a tenth of the worlds poor.
In five other states,the proportion of poor and the absolute number has risen.These are Delhi,Manipur,Meghalaya,Mizoram and Nagaland.

T-rexs killer smile decoded

Washington: Palaeontologists claim to have revealed the secret behind the killer smile of Tyrannosaurus rex,huge meat-eating dinosaurs which roamed the Earth during the Cretaceous period some 65 million years ago.
Until recently,researchers who studied the carnivore dinosaurs smile only noted the varying sizes of its fearsome flesh-ripping,bone-crushing teeth.Now,a team at the University of Alberta has discovered that beyond the obvious size difference in each tooth family in T-rexs gaping jaw,there is considerable variation in the serrated edges of the teeth.
The varying edges,or keels,not only enabled T-rexs very strong teeth to cut through flesh and bone.The placement and angle of the teeth also directed food into its mouth, team leader Miriam Reichel said.
The palaeontologists analysed the teeth of the entire tyrannosaurid family of meat-eating dinosaurs and found T-rex had the greatest variation in tooth morphology or structure.The dental specialization was a great benefit for a dinosaur whose preoccupation was ripping other dinosaurs apart.Their research showed that the T- rexs front teeth gripped and pulled,while the teeth along the side of the jaw punctured and tore flesh.The teeth at the back of the mouth did double duty not only could they slice and dice chunks of prey,they forced food to the back of the throat.
Reichel said that her findings add strength to the classification of tyrannosaurids as heterodont animals,which are animals with teeth adapted for different functions depending on their position in the mouth.One surprising aspect of T- rex teeth,common to all tyrannosaurid's,is that they werent sharp and dagger-like.PTI

புகாரைப் பெற்றுக் கொண்ட கோவை மாநகர காவல்துறை ஆணையர் சைலேந்திரபாபு சம்பந்தப்பட்டவர்கள் மீது விசாரணை செய்து உடனடியாக நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும் என்று கூறினார். இதன் அடிப்படையில் அருகிலுள்ள பந்தைய சாலை பி4 காவல் நிலையத்தில் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட புகாருக்கு காவல்நிலைய ஆய்வாளர் நகல் பிரதியை வழங்கினார். நகலின் பதிவு எண்.433/1808. இது இன்று வரை கிணற்றில் போட்ட கல்லுபோல் நன்றாக உறங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

அதேபோல 2006 ஆம் ஆண்டு கரூர் மாவட்டத்தைச் சேர்ந்த வழக்கறிஞர் இவர் மீது புகார் கொடுத்தும், நீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு தொடரப்பட்டும் வழக்கின் முடிவு வெத்துவேட்டாகி இவரின் மனைவி, மகளையும் இழந்தது தான் மிச்சம். இதுபோல பல மாவட்டங்களிலிருந்த 18வயதிற்குட்பட்ட பெண்கள் இவரால் யோகாசனம் என்கிற மூளைச் சலவை செய்து தன்வசப்படுத்திக் கொண்டார் என்றும் குற்றச்சாட்டு உள்ளது.

இப்படிப்பட்ட சந்தேகத்திற்குரிய மதவாதியான ஜக்கி வாசுதேவ் தன்னுடைய குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் குறித்து விளக்கம் அளிப்பாரா அல்லது அமைதி காத்து குற்றவாளி என ஒத்துக் கொள்வாரா?

Jewish expats agree to synagogue makeover

Kochi: Malabari Jew expats in Jerusalem have agreed to the plan to renovate synagogues in Mala and Chendamangalam.The plan was put forward by local authorities.
In an e-mail statement to historian M G S Narayanan,the representative of the Mala Jews in Jerusalem,Dr Gamliel Ophira,has stated that Mala Jew expats were happy to be considered for opinions on the renovation of Jewish properties in Mala.
In February,legislators V D Satheesan and TN Prathapan,of Paravur and Kodungallur respectively,had proclaimed that the synagogues in Mala and Chendamangalam would be renovated only after taking into consideration the opinions of the Malabari Jewish community and expats from the area.
The four-acre Yehuda cemetery and the 23-cent property of the synagogue were misused by the local panchayat in the name of development.More than threefourth of the cemetery was levelled to make a playground,said T K Kittan,social activist,Gramika.
Its perhaps for the first time in the state that opinion of an expat minority group is being sought for undertaking a development project.We thought we should respect what they had left behind for our people, said V D Satheesan on Chendamangalam Synagogue.
The regions around Kodungallur and Chendamangalam falling under the Muziris Heritage Project have been attracting significant international attention.
This has prompted the State Tourism Department and many other stakeholders to shell out crores of rupees to develop these areas,often forgetting what exactly they are trying to preserve.In the name of tourism,history shouldnt be altered, said M G S Narayanan.

Abhishek Arora might be the baby of the family - hes 14 - but when it comes to technology,hes the grandpa.Its little wonder that when Mohan Lal Arora wants to embed an interactive chart in his PowerPoint presentation,he calls on his son.Ditto for Ruhani Arora,who understands technology but turns to her younger brother for a helping hand every now and then.
The thing is,Abhishek knows computers,and how.He can design websites with HTML,he can work Photoshop like a pro and,if push should come to shove,he can code in C and C++ !
Should you have trouble believing any of this,just ask Google.Theyll tell you Abhishek is one of 10 winners of this years Google Code In,an open source competition for pre-university students around the world,or at least anybody who can log onto a computer.
Code In,one of the most prestigious of its kind,booted up on November 21 last year.Open to children between the ages of 13 and 17,it aims at introducing the world of open source software to teenagers.
I read about it on a Google blog post, says Abhishek,who spends most of his evenings surfing the web.Once in,Abhishek realised hed found his calling.
Google provides Code In with a platform but the competition is run by third-party organizations that hand out tasks,like coding a piece of software or finishing simulation models.Each completed task,depending on its level of difficulty,is worth a certain number of points and contestants are expected to accumulate as many points as possible.
The 2011 edition ran for eight weeks before Google went into a huddle with its partners to declare the results.Between November and January,the competition saw 542 students from 56 countries completing 3,054 tasks.
The results were announced on February 14.Of the 10 winners,five were from India.These 10 pre-university students completed an impressive 449 tasks during the contest, Stephanie Taylor,the Google executive who oversaw the contest,wrote
on the companys official blog.
Abhishek,second on the list with 150 points,was the youngest of them all.****iz Garg,also from India,topped the list with 200 points.Gaurav Narula,Gautam and Aneesh Dogra are the other winners from India.
Not that it was a cakewalk.The competition took a toll on participants.Abhishek,for example,had to juggle his classes,school assignments,his lawn tennis classes and the Code In tasks.There were no strict deadlines since the contest was about finishing as many tasks as possible.That helped.And of course,winter vacation came in handy, says the kid who learnt coding and designing from free tutorials on the web.Once he finishes school,Abhishek wants to work on the next-generation search engine.Im fascinated by search engines and how they work,bringing information to us the minute we want.It could be Google or some other company but I have my sights set on Silicon Valley, he says.Well,hes halfway there.For in June,Google will fly him to its headquarters in Mountain View,California to take part in the prize ceremony and to meet the companys engineers.

Joint families are back in Mumbai

Financial Compulsions Forcing Relatives To Live Under The Same Roof

Mumbai: Nuclear families may have become the norm across India today,but the traditional joint family setup seems to be slowly making a comeback in Mumbai.The proportion of households with joint families has gone up by 56% in the suburbs and 37% in the island city since a decade ago,reveals a detailed analysis of Census 2011 data.
TOI studied the proportion of homes with more than one couple living together and found that 13.7% of total suburban homes are now joint families as compared to 8.8% in 2001.In the island city as well,the proportion of households with multiple couples has increased from 10.6% to 14.5% in the last decade.In absolute terms,there are 1.21 lakh more joint family households in the suburbs in 2011 and 23,722 more in the island city than in 2001.Most of these are two- and three-couple households which could be parents and married children living together.
Sociologists,who point out that over 60% of homes in Mumbai still comprise nuclear families,say the growing proportion of joint families could be mainly due to financial compulsions and convenience in a city known for its high cost of living,rather than traditional familial bonding.More so,as it comes in the wake of shrinking joint families across the country.The dynamics of the economy after all,is known to shape family structures.In the US for instance,the economic recession had forced young adults who had left home to return to their parents.
Mumbaikars living in extended families however believe the arrangement comes with an immense sense of security.They believe the changing societal attitudes have also narrowed generational gaps making joint families more inclusive.
Multigenerational families are more likely now due to the increased life expectancy.Since it may be financially difficult for families to have an independent house or flat in a city like Mumbai,particularly in the middle and lower middle class,people could be forced into living together, says demographer PArokiasamy of the International Institute of Population Sciences,who believes families today particularly those who have the means prefer to live apart.Shalini Bharat,professor in the school of health systems studies at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences too concurs.With real estate in Mumbai becoming dearer,space crunch and affordability may be factors that make families live together ..
Sociologists point out that family businesses another inherent trait of Mumbai may attribute to its penchant for joint families.The decision to disburse a joint house could be a psychologically and economically tricky one for families with common business interests,especially if couples have to move out and look for separate houses,which is why they may prefer to live together,points out social scientist D P Singh.
For families living the multi-generational experience,the arrangement provides multiple benefits.Attitudes have changed significantly today and living with my in-laws is like living with my parents, says 29-year-old Arohi Bhimjiani from Borivali who believes living with her in-laws has proven hugely convenient for her as a working professional.Kandivali resident Kirti Masand (44) who lives with her parents believes elders are the lifeline of her home.As a parent it is great to know that my children are growing up amidst the influence of their grandparents.
